Policies

  • Vaccine Policy

As medical professionals, we feel very strongly that vaccinating children on schedule with currently available vaccines is absolutely the right thing to do for all children and young adults. We are making you aware of these facts not to scare you or coerce you, but to emphasize the importance of vaccinating your child. We are more than willing to discuss any questions you may have about vaccines, but do require all patients to adhere to the vaccination schedule endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

We firmly believe in the effectiveness of vaccines to prevent serious illness and to save lives.

    • We firmly believe in the safety of our vaccines.
    • We firmly believe that all children and young adults should receive all of the recommended vaccines according to the schedule published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
    • We firmly believe, based on all available literature, evidence, and current studies, that vaccines do not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.
    • We firmly believe that thimerosal, a preservative that has been in vaccines for decades and remains in some vaccines, does not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.
    • We firmly believe that vaccinating children and young adults may be the single most important health promoting intervention we perform as health care providers, and that you can support as parents/caregivers.

The recommended vaccines and the schedule of administration are the results of years and years of scientific study and data-gathering on millions of children by thousands of our brightest scientists and physicians.

  • Billing/Financial Policy

Collecting co-payments and past due balances is essential to the functioning of our business.

For insured patients, once claims are processed by your insurance provider, you are sent a statement. Please note, we do not determine your payment responsibility, it is based on your health plan. Please reach out to your insurance provider if you have questions. If there is an issue with your insurance, it is your responsibility to make sure it is active at the time of service for timely filing.

For self-pay patients, we appreciate prompt payment for services rendered. We send statememts via the patient portal and reminders via text.

After 60 days, if your balance remains unpaid or a payment arrangement has not been made, you may be sent a 30 day disengagement notice.

  • Late Cancellations/No-Shows

If you need to cancel an appointment we ask that you give us at least 24-hours notice. In most cases, an appointment canceled with less than 24-hrs notice will count as a no-show.

After your family's first no-show, we reserve the right to charge a $25 fee to your account (not your insurance company) for the time slot we were not able to fill when you did not make your scheduled appointment time.

On the third family no-show for your family, it will be the physician's discretion as to whether a discharge letter will be sent out disengaging you from the practice and giving you 30 days to enroll with a new physician.

  • Administration Fee

We charge an annual admin fee of $25 per child or $50 per family (this fee will not apply for Medicaid eligible families). This administration fee will cover costs that are not billed through insurance, such as completing and sending forms, responding to portal messages, and reviewing photographs. This will be charged annually between June-August.

  • Antibiotic Policy

We work hard to not overuse antibiotics.

We educate families on appropriate use of antibiotics, but follow evidence-based guidelines and don’t automatically treat ear pain or a green snotty nose with antibiotics.

We do not routinely prescribe antibiotics over the phone as we do not believe that is good medicine. We will prescribe an antibiotic when we believe it is an appropriate treatment.

  • Late Arrivals

    Everyone's Time is Equally Valuable.

We ask that you plan to arrive early for your child’s scheduled well check. We have arranged for 30 minutes for their appointment. If you are going to be late, please call to notify the nurse. If you are going to be more than 5 minutes late, if the Doctor’s schedule is not able to accommodate your late arrival.
